Promoting excellence in nursing informatics across Alberta

The Nursing Informatics Association of Alberta (NIAA) is currently active.

Our members aim to advance the profession and improve healthcare in Alberta through informatics.

For example, our members include individuals who are:

  • Working in nursing informatics roles within their organizations.

  • Working with clinical information systems, nursing workload systems, etc.

  • Responsible for managing or leading projects related to health/nursing informatics.

  • Eager to collaborate and network with other individuals involved in nursing informatics.

  • Teaching nursing informatics and digital health to current and future nurses.

  • Interested in developing standards for nursing informatics in Alberta.

  • Interested in research, quality improvement, data analytics, and outcome measurement.

About Us

Mission 

To provide leadership in promoting excellence in nursing informatics across Alberta.

Purpose 
The purpose of NIAA is to bring together registered nurses and other stakeholders whose intent is to promote and advance nursing informatics in Alberta.

NIAA will provide an internet-based network where nurses can:
  • Share best evidence based practices 
  • Stay up to date with educational and networking opportunities 
  • Share health information for effective decision-making in clinical and community settings
Function 
Address the need of health professionals to be effective practitioners with ready access to current, up to date, and evidence-based information relevant to a multitude of practice settings.
