Bio
Peggy White has a MN from the Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto. She has an extensive background as a health care leader in the acute care sector. Peggy is the Lead for the Health Outcomes for Better Information and Care (HOBIC) program. This initiative is implementing the electronic collection of standardized nursing information in acute care, long-term care, complex continuing care and home care settings across Ontario for abstraction onto a provincial database. Peggy is also the National Project Director for C-HOBIC, a Canada Health Infoway funded initiative that is building on the work of HOBIC, to foster nursing uptake of EHRs by providing content in the EHR that is of use in nursing practice.
Peggy has published numerous articles in healthcare journals about the benefits of collecting standardized clinical outcomes in electronic health records. She co-authored a chapter on Patient Safety in Nursing-Sensitive Outcomes: State of the Science and a chapter on Nursing Leadership in Quality Work Environments for Nurse and Patient Safety. Peggy has recently co-authored two case studies about the Canadian experience in Nursing and Informatics for the 21st Century: An International Look at Practice, Education and EHR Trends.
