The field of nursing informatics has become dynamic and has evolved over the years in response to technological advancements and innovations, including the integration of artificial intelligence and digital technologies, as well as the changing needs of the healthcare environment. Nurses with specialized informatics expertise are key for successful organizational digital transformation. These nurses work in informatics specialized roles, such as the nurse informaticist, the informatics nurse specialist, the clinical nurse informatics specialist, and the Chief Nursing Informatics Officer. The nurse informaticist's; roles are becoming commonplace in most healthcare systems to support digital health integration in Canadian healthcare. Therefore, it is important to increase awareness among nurses, policymakers, decision-makers, and healthcare organizations about this role. This presentation provides nurses with an opportunity to learn about current evidence regarding nurse informaticist roles in clinical and healthcare settings, highlighting their contributions, opportunities, challenges, and the way forward for role development.
